Job summary

Trinity Health MI in Ann Arbor is seeking a full-time Patient Access Leader to provide oversight of patient access workflows in the Emergency Registration department. The position offers a 36-hour work week on an evening shift (11:00 a.m.

– 11:30 p.m.) with every other weekend and holiday rotation, on-site at Trinity Health Ann Arbor. You will coordinate registration, scheduling, and financial clearance, mentor teammates, and help develop policies to improve daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent / GED.
• Minimum of three years experience with competency in patient access, pre-service & / or registration.
• Ability to obtain HFMA CRCR & / or NAHAM CHAA certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient flow and staff in registration, scheduling, financial clearance & emergency department.
• Prioritize patient throughput and expeditious service while ensuring safety.
• Develop policies for patient information, wayfinding, and check-in processes.
• Lead onsite orientation of new colleagues and support ongoing education.

Position Purpose

Provides leadership and support to the patient access team. Provides oversight & support of the workflow & functions in accordance with level of experience, education & standards. Assumes an expanded role & increased responsibility including delegating to others. Participates in the development of & the process improvement of policies & procedures. Works closely with leadership to maintain efficient & effective operations to ensure quality in daily operations. May partner with leadership with the selection, orientation & performance feedback of the team. Works cooperatively to ensure that key customer needs are being met & achievement of operational & performance goals.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent / GED
• Minimum of three (3) years experience with competency in patient access, pre-service & / or registration experience.
• Ability to obtain a national certification in HFMA CRCR & / or NAHAM CHAA within one (1) year of hire.

Additional Qualifications (nice To Have)

• Previous Leadership Experience
• Knowledge of federal or state government agencies including but not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, VA or Charity Care programs, or patient management & healthcare accounts receivable within the revenue cycle.

Essential Functions

• Works cross-functionally to assist the manager or supervisor in the operations & staffing of varied Patient Access areas & activities including but not limited to, registration, scheduling, financial clearance & emergency department.
• Coordinates & prioritizes patient flow to ensures smooth distribution of workload to the Patient Registration Representatives to expedite customer service, patient safety & patient throughput.
• Assists in the development of policies & procedures for patient information, wayfinding, office management, patient registration, financial screening, point of service collections, patient check-in processes & patient placement.
• Leads & coordinates the onsite orientation of new colleagues, is an active participant in the ongoing education of colleagues & makes recommendations to management regarding performance evaluations.
