Job description

Responsibilities

Patient Access Coordinators (PAC) are the gateway to care for our applicants, aiming for one-call resolution. PACs answer calls live, perform high-level assessments to determine clinical appropriateness for our facilities, and verify benefits. They collaborate with various organizational roles to resolve caller issues during the first call and to set up appointments for clinical assessments when appropriate. Customer service and sales skills, along with the ability to multi-task, are essential.

  1. Utilize customer service and sales skills to address caller needs.
  2. Conduct screening to determine clinical fit for Hazelden Betty Ford substance abuse services.
  3. Obtain financial and insurance/benefit information to assess eligibility for programs at HBFF locations.
  4. Manage patient caseloads to ensure conversion to admission.
  5. Ensure accurate documentation in patient records to facilitate complete registration in the EHR.
Training and Remote Work

This role requires up to six weeks of on-site training at The Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, CA, or at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in Center City, MN. Training hours are Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM. Job proficiency must be demonstrated before transitioning to remote work, which depends on ongoing performance measured by attendance, punctuality, job metrics, and call monitoring.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or three years of equivalent experience
  • Three years of customer service experience
  • One year of call center or healthcare experience
  • Strong technology and computer skills, including experience with Medical EHR and navigating various system applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with healthcare insurance and finances
  • Recovery and 12-step knowledge
  • Experience in a chemical dependency or behavioral health setting

Salary Range

USD $24.40 - USD $34.44 per hour.
