Job summary

Optum is seeking a Patient Services Representative Associate at United Hospital in Saint Paul, MN. This on-site role supports patients as the first point of contact, handling registrations, scheduling, and financial guidance during a night shift schedule (32 hours bi-weekly).

You will verify demographics, insurance details, collect payments, and help patients navigate care. Epic experience preferred; 6+ months customer service required; hours include evenings and every other weekend/holiday

Qualifications

• 6+ months of customer service experience.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work daytime hours, Monday-Friday for training, then evening shifts with variable start times.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients, directing them to appointments.
• Verify demographic, insurance, and benefits information and obtain signatures.
• Check in patients and complete required paperwork, including financial assistance forms.
• Explain costs, collect co-pays and deductibles, and discuss financial assistance options.
• Resolve billing or registration issues and document in the electronic medical record.
• Register accounts and manage work queues using assigned tools.
• Provide customer service for inbound/outbound calls and scheduling add-ons.
• Mentor staff and gather medical record information as needed.
