Job summary

Optum, in strategic partnership with Allina Health, is hiring a Patient Services Representative Associate at United Hospital in Saint Paul, MN. You will be the first point of contact, providing compassionate support to help patients navigate care, schedule appointments, and understand financial information.

The role offers 40 hours weekly with evening shifts and alternating weekends/holiday rotation. External applicants may receive a $1000 sign-on bonus; pay ranges from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour

Qualifications

• 6+ months of customer service experience.
• Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work standard daytime hours, Monday-Friday for the first 3 weeks after hire in alignment with the training schedule.
• Ability to work evening shift, 8-hour shifts, variable start times including: 10:30 AM; 2:30 PM, 3:00 PM, 3:30 PM, 5:30 PM. Every other weekend and Holiday rotation.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Greets and welcomes patients in person, directing them to appointments and procedures.
• Collects and verifies demographic, insurance, and benefits information; obtains signatures.
• Checks in and interviews patients to complete required paperwork, including financial assistance forms.
• Obtains and explains cost information to patients and counsels on financial assistance programs.
• Addresses claim issues or registration errors and documents resolutions in the EMR.
• Uses resources to complete registration for accounts and work queues.
• Provides customer service for inbound/outbound calls and resolves patient inquiries.
