Job summary

Retina Group of Washington in Fairfax, VA is seeking a Patient Services Representative to manage patient access, scheduling, and financial counseling. This full-time role requires coordinating registrations, verifying insurance, and ensuring HIPAA-compliant, high-quality patient service.

The PSR will handle inbound/outbound communications, assist with appointments, and liaise with physicians and staff to streamline patient care from initial contact through follow-up.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED completed.
• 2+ years in a patient-facing healthcare or customer service role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and complete full registration for patient appointments with accuracy.
• Perform pre-registration and verify demographic and insurance information.
• Verify insurance, benefits, and referrals.
• Obtain legal photo ID and insurance cards to verify identity and coverage.
• Adhere to HIPAA and protect patient privacy.
• Explain appointment and payment policies to patients.
• Provide upfront financial counseling and discuss payment plans.
• Collect payments according to guidelines.
• Coordinate care by liaising with patients, physicians and staff.
• Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, and notify relevant teams.
• Train other PSR staff and uphold company policies.
