Job summary

University Health in San Antonio is seeking a Patient Access Clerk to interview patients, collect demographics and insurance information, and complete admission registrations at UH locations to support accurate billing.

You will discuss service charges with privately paying patients, assist with payment arrangements, collect copays and coinsurance, and obtain required forms per Medicare/Medicaid and other agencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Post high school coursework preferred.
• Six months hospital/physician setting experience preferred.
• Billing experience and contract knowledge preferred.
• One year in a similar occupation and basic medical terminology and ICD-9 coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to obtain accurate demographic and insurance information for admission and registration.
• Communicate with privately paying patients about service charges and assist with payment arrangements.
• Collect copays, coinsurance and other monies owed by patients.
• Collect required admission forms as per Medicare, Medicaid, insurance companies and/or other agencies.
