Job summary

ARH is seeking a Clinic Clerk to handle efficient patient registration, discharge, and data entry for medical records. You will compile and type information for patient records and maintain accurate account receivables.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, posting charges and payments, and coordinating with insurance carriers to obtain precertifications as needed. Strong typing and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; commercial courses are a plus.
• Must have basic computer skills in Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding and ICD9 coding.
• Must type 60 words per minute accurately, operate various office machines, and know clerical procedures.
• Well organized and able to function under stress.
• 3–6 months on-the-job training needed to attain proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, determine needs, and offer assistance.
• Register patients and prepare required records and notices.
• Interview patients to determine payment arrangements and refer unusual cases.
• Assist self-pay patients with balance arrangements beyond deposits or third-party payments.
• Explain insurance benefits and answer questions about patient accounts.
