Job summary

DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan is seeking a Patient Management Clerical Associate to register and schedule patients, verify insurance, collect data, and admit/pre-admit patients. You will help with billing and act as a liaison between patients and the health facility.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, collecting data, securing referrals, counseling on payment options, and maintaining accurate records while assisting care teams as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years in hospital healthcare insurance, medical records, billing or related area desirable.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology desired.
• Six to twelve months of related computer/information management experience required.

Responsibilities

• Greets or contacts patient; collects and verifies all necessary demographic insurance and related data.
• Schedules appointments, generates notices, reschedules and handles cancellations per policy.
• Verifies insurance coverage and benefits; secures authorizations and referrals.
• Provides financial counseling to help patients find alternate payment sources.
• Maintains patient service records and responds to inquiries from patients and staff.
