Job summary

Southeast Health in Alabama is seeking an Access Specialist I to register or admit patients, obtain signatures for treatment and reimbursement, and assist with billing and records. The role serves as the primary contact for patients, coordinates scheduling, verifies payer coverage, and supports self-pay workflows in a fast-paced health care environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Prefer 1 year hospital/clinic revenue cycle experience.
• Working knowledge of computers; medical terminology may be learned during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to answer inquiries and provide information.
• Verifies third party payer coverage and collects self-pay balances.
• Enters/updates demographic and billing information in patient records.
• Schedules patient for planned clinical services and enrolls for services.
• Obtains authorizations for clinical services when required.
• First point of contact for clients, by phone or in person.
