The University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking a Departmental Assistant to accurately handle patient intake processes at University Health Services (UHS). You will interview patients, verify eligibility, and enter information into the practice manager with high accuracy to ensure timely access to care.

Responsibilities include obtaining pre-determinations, educating patients on responsibilities, managing referrals, and assisting multiple departments while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Formación

• Associate Degree from an accredited Medical Assistant Program or CMA certification; or high school diploma with 3+ years medical office experience.
• Experience with insurance verification, authorization and predetermination.
• Strong communication and customer service abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic hospital/clinic office software.
• Familiarity with patient intake processes and EHR systems.

Responsabilidades

• Interview patients and verify eligibility electronically via multi-payer systems.
• Enter or update information in the practice manager with accuracy.
• Obtain pre-determinations and authorizations to ensure reimbursement.
• Collect co-pays and reconcile daily payments electronically.
• Schedule and manage routine and walk-in appointments for a multidisciplinary practice.
