Job summary

Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, FL is seeking a Patient Access Specialist I who reports to the Patient Access Manager. The role performs scheduling and authorization duties, interviews patients to collect demographic, insurance and clinical information for entry into the EMR, and coordinates with providers as needed.

Knowledge of scheduling and authorization processes for common carriers is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No experience required; 1 to 2 years of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to obtain all pertinent demographic, insurance, and clinical information for entry into EMR.
• Performs scheduling or authorization duties; contacts providers as needed.
• Ensures information is accurate and complete; verifies policies and procedures.
• Answers calls and schedules appointments while maintaining professional customer service.
• Maintains compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA and related regulations.
• Works with physician offices and departments to forward relevant documents.
• Attends trainings and adheres to department policies and timelines.
