Job summary

Cambridge Health Alliance is seeking a Patient Access Representative at CHA One Cabot Care Center. The role focuses on accurate, timely hospital patient registration, insurance verification, and referrals management to support efficient admission and service delivery.

Ideal candidates will have healthcare patient access experience, strong customer service skills, and familiarity with medical terminology and Epic systems. This on-site position requires 40 hours weekly and day/evening shifts.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma; an Associate Degree is preferred.
  • Two years of patient access experience in a healthcare setting handling registration, pre-registration, insurance verification and related services preferred.
  • Two years of customer service experience required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with third-party plans, medical billing and collection is required.
  • Proficiency with Google Office and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Epic systems including Grand Central, Prelude and EMR is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Register hospital patients accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Stay current with changes in insurance plan requirements related to referrals and point-of-service collection.
  • Communicate changes to registration staff and assist with training of new employees as needed.
  • Help ensure high-quality service and accuracy of information during pre- and post-visit processes.

The Hospital Registration team manages all aspects of patient access for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services. Focused on efficiency, accuracy, and a patient-centered approach, the department ensures timely admissions, verifies insurance eligibility, and maintains compliance with regulatory and payer requirements. The team collaborates closely with clinical, financial, and support departments to deliver seamless service and uphold CHA’s standards of quality, professionalism, and customer satisfaction.

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for accurate and timely registration of the Hospital patients. They are required to keep abreast of changes in insurance plan requirements that pertain to the referral management and point of service collection requirements. They will communicate any changes to registration staff and are responsible for training new employees as needed. The overall goal of this position is to ensure high quality service for patients and accuracy of information during pre and post visits.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required, Associate Degree preferred.
  • Two years of patient access experience within a healthcare setting handling all facets of registration, pre-registration, insurance verification, copayment determination and other related services preferred.
  • Two Years Of Customer Service Experience Required.
  • Medical terminology, familiarity with third party plans, medical billing and collection required.

  • Knowledge of Epic systems including Grand Central, Prelude and EMR preferred
