Job summary

OSF HealthCare in Kewanee, IL is seeking a Patient Access Associate to ensure complete patient records, accurate demographics, and proper insurance coverage. The role requires strong patient service skills to communicate financial responsibilities and expectations during visits, over the phone or in person.

The position offers hourly pay with a range of $18.80–$22.12, 32 hours per week, and varied evening and overnight shifts across Sunday through Saturday.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: One year in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and website navigation.
• Problem solving, conflict management, time management, good oral and written communication skills.
• Complete role-specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Ensure every registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, including demographics and insurance information.
• Explain services and financial responsibilities to patients over the phone or in person.
• Provide exceptional patient service to create a positive first impression of OSF's services.

Expected pay for this position is $18.80 - $22.12/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Sunday through Saturday varied hours of 2:00p-10:30p and 10:30p-7:00A

POSITION SUMMARY

The Patient Access Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, which includes patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor and registration precision in a manner which they understand what services they are receiving, their financial responsibilities for the services provided, and expectations of them while at the facility. Excellent patient service skills are expected to create an exceptional first impression of OSF's services to the patients, families, and other external patients over the phone or in person. A high degree of deductive reasoning and logic skills are necessary in order to solve issues that can arise in a complex, multi-payer situation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or GED Experience: One year in an office clerical setting or customer service environment Other skills/knowledge: Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation Problem solving, conflict management, time management, good oral and written communication skills Required to complete all role specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Three years in an office clerical setting or customer service environment. Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting Other skills/knowledge: Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers. Knowledge of medical terminology
