Bakersfield Family Medical Group is seeking a patient-focused Appointment Clerk to manage a high-volume call queue, schedule and coordinate appointments, and ensure accurate medical chart linkage with insurance details. Strong communication, professionalism, and EHR familiarity are essential.

The role requires basic computer skills, knowledge of insurance processes, and the ability to work in a fast-paced clinic environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or certificate required.
• Working knowledge of appointment scheduling and insurances preferred.
• Computers skills and experience preferred.
• Bilingual, preferred (Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Consistently stay logged in to the Queue during working hours.
• Able to process and handle a high call volume.
• Schedule appointments according to physician/department guidelines.
• Complete appointment reminder calls per EHR guidelines.
• Utilize the telephone script with patient correspondence.
• Familiar with insurance contracts and insurances.
• Cancel/reschedule appointments according to physician schedule changes.
• Greet patients courteously.
• Exhibit proper telephone etiquette.
• Schedule referral appointments per protocol.
• Review schedules for errors and correct as needed.
• Mail new patient packets to all new patients.
• Handle complaints professionally.
• Understand how to schedule Interpreter services.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Link insurance to medical chart at appointment scheduling.
• Process appointment reminders via mail, phone and Phreesia.
• Perform other duties assigned.
