Job summary

MultiCare Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, WA seeks a Patient Access Technician to ensure accurate admissions and registrations, applying service orientation and good judgment in daily tasks. Qualifications

• Graduate of a health vocational program such as Patient Access, Medical Assistance Medical Billing & Insurance.
• One year of experience in admitting, Health Unit Coordinator, patient registration, customer service or billing duties.

Responsibilities

• Ensure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to policy and regulatory requirements.
• Obtain inpatient bed assignments and process admission, including arm banding and forms.
• Pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients to facilitate a smooth process.
• Obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the system to notify other areas.
• Conduct comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews to collect demographic, insurance and third-party information.
• Perform eligibility verification and resolve discrepancies; refer to Financial Counselor when needed.
