Job summary

MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Technician to ensure accurate patient admissions and registrations. This role applies service orientation, good judgment and independent thinking in daily tasks, coordinating with clinical and administrative teams.

The position requires completing registrations, verifying eligibility and assisting with financial counseling as needed to support a smooth admission process.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a health vocational program such as Patient Access, Medical Assistance, Medical Billing & Insurance.
• One year of experience performing admitting, Health Unit Coordinator, patient registration, customer service or billing duties; healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to policy and regulatory requirements.
• Obtain inpatient bed assignments and process admissions including arm banding and forms.
• Pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients to facilitate registration.
• Enter reservation info in computer system to notify other areas.
• Conduct bedside or phone interviews to collect demographic, insurance, and third-party information.
• Perform eligibility verification and refer financial assistance needs to the Financial Counselor when necessary.
