Qualifications

• Graduate of a health vocational program such as Patient Access, Medical Assistance Medical Billing & Insurance.
• One (1) year of experience performing admitting, Health Unit Coordinator, patient registration, customer service or billing duties; healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to policy and regulatory requirements.
• Obtain inpatient bed assignments and process inpatient admission, including arm banding and forms.
• Pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients.
• Enter reservation and notify other areas.
• Conduct bedside or telephone interviews to obtain demographic, insurance and third-party information.
• Perform eligibility verification and determine need for financial assistance, referring to Financial Counselor as needed.
