Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking a Pathology Lab Assistant to organize and prep slides, maintain documentation, and manage lab supplies. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and knowledge of biology, chemistry, and histology. Familiarity with CLIA regulations is a plus.

The position involves sorting and accessioning specimens, preparing cassettes, and distributing slides to the Pathologist, with a focus on accuracy and safety in a busy lab environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; working knowledge of biology, chemistry, histology, immunology, and mathematics is required; 1 year of clinical experience in the pathology setting preferred; 1 year of experience working with CLIA regulatory requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and prepares slides and maintains proper documentation, equipment, and supplies needed for the pathology lab.
• Completes sorting and accessioning of pathology specimens; initiates daily grossing log with patient name, accession#, and slide protocol notes.
• Prepares specimen cassettes and distributes slides for distribution to Pathologist; identifies problems and escalates to senior staff as needed.
• Handles filing, inventory of slides and blocks, and maintains lab supply inventory; follows safety and quality guidelines.
