McLaren Health Care is seeking a Pathologist Assistant to provide technical support in anatomical pathology. The role includes gross room oversight, specimen accessioning, and assisting with dissections and postmortem examinations.

Required: a pathology assistant credential or equivalent, with certification or eligibility within 18 months, plus three years of pathology experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a pathology assistant program or equivalent.
• Certification as Pathologist Assistant or eligible to sit for the exam within 18 months.
• Experience in pathology settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the gross room, the frozen section area and morgue facilities.
• Monitors specimens as they arrive in the gross room and accession; performs routine gross dissection with pathologist.
• Assist in the preparation and dissection of human surgical specimens.
• Assists in the preparation and performance of human postmortem examinations.
• Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock and expediting orders.
• Conserves laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
