Regions Hospital's Histopathology Department seeks a qualified Pathologists’ Assistant to join our team. The role involves gross tissue analysis, postmortem exams, record keeping, and assisting Pathologists with reports.

Required MS in Pathology Assistants or BS with 3 years of training, plus certification by AAPA or ASCP within 15 months of hire. Preference for 1+ year of applicable experience.

Qualifications

• MS in pathology assistants or BS with 3 years training in Pathologists’ Assistant.
• Certification as Pathologist Assistant by AAPA or ASCP within 15 months of hire.
• Preference for at least 1 year of experience as a certified Pathologists’ Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Perform anatomic gross tissue analysis and preparation.
• Perform postmortem examinations.
• Maintain gross pathology records.
• Assist Pathologists in preparing patient reports.
• Maintain QA, equipment, supplies, and cleanliness of pathology suites.
• Implement Joint Commission compliance policies with leadership.
• Assist in organizing anatomic pathology conferences.
