SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, IL seeks a Pathology Assistant to support pathology services in a full-time role. You will assist pathologists with grossing and preparation of surgical specimens, under direct supervision, and help ensure accurate processing.

Required qualifications include a NAACLS-accredited pathology program and ASCP certification within 6 months of hire. Relocation assistance is available for qualified applicants.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on anatomy and physiology.
• Completion of master's degree from NAACLS accredited program in Pathology.
• ASCP certification is required within 6 months of hire date.

Responsabilidades

• Assist pathologists in preparing and grossing anatomical specimens.
• Trim, label, process, and preserve specimens.
• Provide gross dictation under supervision of the pathologist.
• Review dictations and slides before handing to the pathologist.
• Prepare frozen sections by labeling, cutting, staining, and preserving specimens.
• Photograph specimens as needed.
• Assist Radiologist and Pathologist in collection of fine needle aspirates.

Educación

Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on anatomy and physiology or equivalent years of experience and education
