Job summary

SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL, seeks a community pathologist to provide leadership in the laboratory and cover surgical, cytopathology, and clinical pathology duties across two central southern Illinois hospitals.

The staff pathologist will work closely with SLUCare and the Saint Louis University pathology faculty, maintain records, and contribute to clinical care while upholding the medical staff bylaws.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in medicine and board eligibility in AP/CP required.
• Illinois medical license required; Missouri license preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with hospital staff and SLU faculty.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical pathology, cytopathology, and clinical pathology coverage.
• Collaborate with laboratory leadership and clinicians at both campuses.
• Maintain medical records and comply with medical staff bylaws.
• Report equipment and facility issues as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.
