Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Pathologists' Assistant PRN to support pathologists in surgical pathology services. The role involves organizing workflow, triaging specimens, and dictating gross findings under pathologist guidance.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Pathology Assistance, with 1–2 years of relevant lab experience. ASCP certification is preferred; hospital experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Assisting pathologists in performance of surgical pathology services.
• Independently perform professional duties related to examination and preparation of surgical pathology specimens.
• Work under supervision of on-site pathologists to determine grossing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Organize and improve workflow in frozen section and gross examination areas.
• Triage specimens; dictate gross findings using appropriate terminology.
• Select tissue for microscopic study and determine fixation methods.
• Coordinate specimens for special histological procedures and stains as needed.
• Maintain and document dissection records and assist in report compilation.
