Qualifications

• Pathologists’ Assistant Certification required (ASCP).
• Master's Degree preferred from NAACLS-accredited program or at least two years experience as Pathologists’ Assistant, or equivalent experience.
• Good working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, and Adobe Acrobat; strong interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and organizing daily work schedule in dissection rooms and pathology areas.
• Perform examinations of surgical specimens and provide accurate gross descriptions for microscopic examination.
• Photograph and catalog specimens.
• Coordinate inventory, storage and retrieval of pathology photos, reports, and X-rays.
• Orient and train residents, students and new employees.
• Keep abreast of developments and implement new techniques as appropriate.
• Preserve patient and employee confidentiality.
