Job summary

Entergy is seeking Apprentice positions (1st-4th year) for on-site work across multiple Texas locations. Training focuses on high and low voltage line work, construction and maintenance of electric transmission and distribution systems.

The program includes hands-on practice such as pole climbing, pole installation, wiring services up to 600 volts, and basic switching. A pre-employment Fitness for Duty exam and safety compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Lineworker Training program OR prior demonstrated linework experience required.
• Apprentice 1st Year: 4+ years demonstrated linework experience required.
• Apprentice 2nd Year: 2+ years demonstrated linework experience required.
• Apprentice 3rd Year: 3+ years demonstrated linework experience required.
• Apprentice 4th Year: 4+ years demonstrated linework experience required.

Responsibilities

• Use pole climbing equipment and have ability to handle self on pole in safe and efficient manner.
• Handle poles, install poles, assist in the erection of wood and steel structures, including foundations.
• Make up and install guys and install secondaries.
• Connect services on energized conductors up to 600 volts.
• Install secondary racks and clevis, anchors, miscellaneous hardware, grounds, fittings for vertical type construction, buss supports, and conductors on dead circuits.
• Perform simple transmission and distribution switching (qualified lineman assistance).
• T ie knots and splice rope.
• Assist in trimming trees.
• Assist qualified lineman or mechanic in simple routine inspection and maintenance.
• Assist in the installation of all types of conduit systems.
• Assist in the handling, moving and installation of all transmission, distribution and plant equipment, machinery.
• Prepare reports and records.
• Obtain/Maintain a valid Class A CDL.
