Job summary

Texas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. is seeking an Apprentice Lineman for the Line Crew to participate in an apprenticeship program and gain Journeyman lineman skills.

Duties include constructing, replacing, and maintaining electric distribution lines, equipment, and structures while adhering to safety policies. The role emphasizes teamwork, customer service, and the ability to work non-exempt hourly shifts, including after hours and emergencies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state Class A CDL; insurable driving record.
  • Must reside within a 30-minute radius of WCEC headquarters.
  • Strong customer service skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working and living environment by following policies and regulations.
  • Construct, replace, and maintain electric distribution lines, structures, and equipment.
  • Assist line crew and perform tree trimming on the ground or in an aerial device.
  • Read maps and use mapping systems to locate work sites and plan tasks.
  • Possess flexibility to work after hours, during emergencies, and at annual meetings.
