Job summary

Texas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. is seeking a Lineman Apprentice to perform duties in the operation, maintenance, construction, and repair of transmission and distribution systems in the Austin, TX area.

The role requires progression through Apprentice 1 and 2, with opportunities to work on energized and de-energized lines under supervision. Responsibilities include maintaining lines and equipment, inspecting substations, and using hand and power tools.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of Department of Labor approved Lineman Apprenticeship Program requirements for Apprentice Level 2
• Operate PEC vehicle(s) for business purposes in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and local law and PEC policies and procedures
• Maintain driver eligibility through appropriate valid Texas Driver's License and driving record in accordance with PEC policy

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain overhead and underground electric lines and equipment
• Inspect existing primary and secondary power lines and substation equipment
• Operate PEC vehicle(s) for business purposes in accordance with PEC policies and procedures
• Perform the more complex duties of a Lineman under general supervision with some instruction
• Participate in and successfully complete training as scheduled
• Demonstrate diligence in learning and adhering to safety regulations
• Maintain and service, including cleaning and repairing, all tools and equipment
• Perform rubber glove work on energized lines from an aerial device
• Work on de-energized or grounded lines or equipment, both from the pole or an aerial device
