Job summary

City of Austin's AE Apprenticeship Program seeks an entry-level lineworker trainee. Under direct supervision you will participate in apprenticeship tasks across distribution, network, or transmission crafts and receive on-the-job training.

You will climb poles up to 250 ft, operate aerial equipment, assist with maintenance of electrical systems, and learn safety standards. A high school diploma and Texas Class A CDL within 120 days are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
• Able to meet driver eligibility standards in COA Driver Safety Program.

Responsibilities

• Participates in OJT and attends classroom instruction to progress in Apprenticeship Program.
• Climbs poles and structures to assist with transmission, network, or distribution work.
• Assists with installing and maintaining overhead and underground electrical systems.
• Operates or assists with electric utility aerial equipment and related tools.
• Responds to outages and on-call situations as required.
