Job summary

BakerHostetler seeks an IP Specialist in the IP Services department to support US patent prosecution from pre-filing to grant. Located in Costa Mesa, CA, the role is in-office four days a week and reports to the Patent Manager.

The candidate will handle docketing, filing documents with the USPTO, client reporting, and collaboration with attorneys and clients on domestic and international matters. Strong Korean language skills are required.

Qualifications

• AA degree from a two-year college or equivalent with patent filing experience.
• Professional proficiency in Korean for business or legal settings.
• Strong MS Office and experience with document management systems (NetDocs).
• Excellent organizational and planning skills; detail-oriented and capable of meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate and apply knowledge of patent filing and prosecution practices in the USPTO.
• Assist with preparation and filing of patent documents with the USPTO and ensure timely processing.
• Monitor and clear dockets for due dates; prepare reminders for attorneys and clients.
• Work with Docketing to prepare status and docket reports for attorneys and clients.
• Coordinate with attorneys, clients, and others on domestic and international patent matters.
• Compose correspondence to attorneys and clients regarding all aspects of patent prosecution.
• Review incoming correspondence from the USPTO and update client reports.
• Create and maintain electronic and paper files; manage client contacts in firm systems.
• Enter billable hours for tasks in the timekeeping system.
• Assist with client-related projects including updating IP Management Systems.
