Job summary

CHOR Youth and Family Services seeks a Parent Educator to implement the Parents as Teachers (PAT) model, working with 20–25 families from birth through kindergarten. You will conduct home visits, family assessments, and goal setting, delivering PAT curricula and supporting transitions to preschool.

The role emphasizes culturally responsive practice, strong communication, organizational skills, and ongoing training to maintain PAT certification. Competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in relevant field.
• Supervised experience with young children/parents preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build rapport and empower families.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in field-based role.
• Basic computer skills (email, internet, word processing).
• Completion of Parents as Teachers trainings prior to service delivery (training provided).

Responsibilities

• Recruit and engage families into the program.
• Complete initial and annual family-centered assessments.
• Develop, monitor, and review family goals.
• Conduct home visits focused on parent–child interaction and family well-being.
• Plan, deliver, and document visits using PAT curricula.
• Facilitate monthly group connections to promote social support and learning.
• Complete developmental screenings and health reviews for enrolled children.
• Connect families to community resources and supportive services.
• Support transitions to preschool or kindergarten.
• Maintain timely documentation and records.
• Organize and inventory program supplies.
• Participate in weekly supervision and team meetings.
• Complete professional development and maintain PAT certification.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts.
