Job summary

El Five in Denver seeks passionate cooks to join a vibrant kitchen on the fifth floor of 2930 Umatilla. You’ll work in a tapas-driven setting with bold flavors from Spain and the Mediterranean, including pastry and dessert skills, and a strong emphasis on sustainability and teamwork.

Open availability including nights and weekends is required; base pay starts with a tip-enhanced wage and opportunities to grow with tenure and proficiency through our tip pool.

Qualifications

• Experience in a high-volume kitchen setting and ability to multitask.
• Willingness to explore diverse cuisines, techniques, and styles.
• Knowledge of baking with alternative flours and sweeteners.
• Dessert and pastry preparation knowledge; strong food safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Set up, organize, work, replenish and clean a professional workstation.
• Maintain high cleanliness and stock levels; ensure food handling standards.

Nestled high above LoHi on the fifth floor of 2930 Umatilla, El Five boasts spectacular, unobstructed views of the downtown Denver skyline. The menu pays tribute to Spain and the Mediterranean, featuring tapas & small plates built on bold flavors found throughout the region: Spain, North Africa, the Middle East. Inside, the highlight of the space is a large, open-air patio to enjoy incredible views of the Denver skyline.

In year 1 earn between $25-$29* per hour on average ( with tips included). Wages go higher from there based on tenure and proficiency.

*Base wage of $19.29/hour plus tips through a tip pool system. Tips are shared across the team and added to your hourly pay

Qualifications/Skills

• Can function in a high volume kitchen w/ the ability to multitask, prioritize & manage time effectively
• Experience with and/or a willingness to explore a variety of cuisines, techniques, and styles of cooking is mandatory
• Working knowledge of baking with alternative flours & sweeteners.
• Current knowledge of dessert & pastry preparation, production, and baking techniques.
• Committed to sustainable kitchen practices
• Mindset around learning and personal development

• Strong knowledge of, and commitment to, high level food handling and storage standards & procedures
