OVERVIEW:

The Pastry Cook will be responsible for the preparation and presentation of a variety of desserts, pastries, and baked goods for our members and special events. The ideal candidate will demonstrate creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for pastry arts, ensuring that all products meet the high standards of our country club.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop new dessert recipes and optimize existing recipes for quality and consistency.
  • Ensure all pastries and baked goods are presented attractively and meet quality standards.
  • Assist in menu planning for special events, banquets, and member functions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Work closely with the culinary team to coordinate production and service schedules.
  • Monitor inventory and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Train and mentor junior pastry staff, providing guidance on techniques and best practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and techniques to continually enhance offerings.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience as a Pastry Cook or in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume dining environment.
  • Completion of a culinary program with a focus on pastry arts is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and presentation skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Flexible schedule, including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Bending and Reaching: Frequent bending to prepare ingredients, as well as reaching for items on shelves, is an integral part of the job.
  • Climbing: Occasionally, climbing may be necessary to reach high shelves or access storage areas.
  • Work Environment: The role involves working in a kitchen environment that may be hot and humid. Cooks must be able to work in various temperature conditions and handle hot equipment and foods.
  • Team Collaboration: The position requires the ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with other kitchen staff.
