Job summary

Main Street Hospitality is seeking a Pastry Cook to join our culinary team in New York. The role focuses on preparing, producing, and presenting high-quality pastries, breads, and desserts for restaurant and event production, while maintaining standards of creativity and excellence.

You will support mise en place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and banquets, collaborate with the Pastry Chef on seasonal updates, and ensure strict sanitation and labeling practices in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of professional pastry or baking experience in a hotel, restaurant, or bakery environment required.
  • Formal culinary or pastry training preferred.
  • Knowledge of pastry fundamentals, baking techniques, and ingredient functionality.
  • Experience working in high-volume and/or event-driven culinary operations a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and produce all pastry menu items, including breads, desserts, and specialty confections, in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Support daily mise en place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and banquet service; assist with production for special events and seasonal offerings.
  • Ensure all pastry items are consistently executed with proper technique, portioning, and presentation.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and sanitation in all pastry areas.
  • Properly label, date, and store ingredients and prepared items according to company and local health department standards.
  • Assist in receiving and inspecting pastry supplies and ingredients, ensuring quality and freshness.
  • Support menu development, seasonal updates, and special event dessert planning in collaboration with the Pastry Chef.
  • Adhere to all safety and sanitation procedures and uphold Main Street Hospitality’s food safety protocols.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with team members and other departments to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Job Purpose:

The Pastry Cook contributes to the success of the culinary program by preparing, producing, and presenting high-quality pastries, breads, and desserts that reflect the character and standards of Main Street Hospitality. This individual works collaboratively within the kitchen team to ensure consistency, creativity, and excellence in all pastry operations — supporting both restaurant and event production as needed.
