Le Quartier Bakery & Cafe in Lincoln, NE is seeking a store baker who starts early to bake pastries and bread before opening. You will manage dough deliveries from our production center, prep deli items, verify orders, and set up dough for the next day.

This role suits someone who values speed, reliability, and teamwork, with the option to work solo at times. You will stand for long shifts, lift 20–40 lbs, and maintain a clean, organized workspace in a fast-paced cafe.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in a bakery or restaurant setting is a plus but not required.
• Punctual with good shift attendance.
• Capable of multitasking while products are coming out of the ovens.
• Inspects product quality to match aesthetic standards.
• Able to work alongside and communicate with staff, or solo on occasion.
• Fast-paced cafe with continuous tasks.
• Food Handlers Permit/Prep Cook level certification required.
• Stand for 8 hours, lift 20–40 lbs, and work near warm ovens.

Responsibilities

• Morning Bake: Bake pastries, sourdough, and baguettes so they’re ready by opening time.
• Prepare tomorrow’s bake by tray-ing up dough and checking orders.
• Receive dough deliveries and rotate stock; keep freezers organized.
• Take inventory for deli orders for the next day.
• Deli Prep: prepare items like egg patties and bacon.
• Maintain a clean workspace and sanitize surfaces.

Job description

Le Quartier is looking for a store baker to join our team. This position wakes up early to bake off pastries and bread before opening time, manages dough deliveries from our production center, prepares basic deli items, checks orders and sets up the dough for the next day’s bake. If you’re passionate about food, and you like an early schedule, this role may be for you!

We are located on 6900 O St Ste 132.

Responsibilities

Morning Bake: Bake off pastries, sourdough, and baguettes according to the prep list. Ensure products are ready by opening time

Prepare tomorrow’s Bake: Tray up dough that will be baked tomorrow. Check orders and add to prep. Communicate any shortages to production and store staff.

Receive Delivery: Receive dough deliveries, rotate new and old product correctly, keep freezers and work area organized

Place Deli order: Take inventory and communicate with deli staff about what is needed for the next day.

Deli Prep: Cook egg patties, cook bacon, cut fruit, etc. for deli

Clean: Baker is responsible for maintaining a clean workspace. Sweep, do dishes, sanitize work surfaces.

Skills & Requirements

Experience: 1-2 years in a bakery or restaurant setting is a plus but not strictly required

Reliable: Punctual with good shift attendance, ensures the morning bake is done on time.

Multitasking: Capable of managing multiple prep tasks while product is still coming out of the ovens

Attention to Detail: Inspects product quality, notices discrepancies, makes product match our aesthetic standards

Teamwork and Independence: Able to work alongside and communicate effectively with other staff, but is also comfortable working solo- sometimes you will be the only baker on site

Speed: works efficiently and quickly, always seeks to improve. This is a fast-paced cafe, and there is always a task to do.

Food Handlers Permit: Prep Cook level certifcation is required

Physical: Able to stand for shifts around 8 hours long, able to work in warm environments near industrial ovens, able to lift trays and bins around 20-40lbs, able to communicate verbally.
