Job summary

Amtrak in Taylor, Missouri is seeking a Passenger Conductor Trainee. In this fast-paced, hands-on role you will support train operations, help passengers, and learn under the supervision of experienced conductors.

This training program lasts seven to eight weeks in Wilmington, Delaware, followed by on-the-job training at your Crew base. You must be flexible, able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts, and live within a reasonable commute.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years of full-time verifiable work experience and/or college coursework.
• Demonstrated history of satisfactory attendance and adherence to safe work practices.
• Must live within a 2-hour commute of the Crew Base.
• Ability to lift 50lbs and meet FRA vision, color vision, and hearing standards.
• Driver’s license not required, but if held, must clear MVR after conditional offer.

Responsibilities

• Support the safe, efficient operation of trains by assisting the Conductor with train movements and safety rules.
• Enforce safety procedures, respond to emergencies, and assist passengers during boarding and detraining.
• Perform yard operations and assist with train assembly and inspections.
• Deliver customer service and manage passenger conduct during service disruptions.
• Record delays, incidents, and mechanical concerns accurately.
