Job summary

Granger Waste Services in Lansing, MI is seeking an Inventory/Parts Specialist to source, procure and manage heavy truck parts and related materials. You will assist mechanics, maintain accurate inventory and support timely repairs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience with heavy truck parts or parts room operations.
  • Experience using procurement software and inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification required.
  • Overhead crane certification or ability to obtain certification required.
  • Fleet maintenance or heavy equipment industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Source, evaluate and procure heavy truck and equipment parts, components and materials.
  • Assist mechanics in identifying and ordering the correct parts.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and inventory management systems.
  • Conduct cycle counts and monitor inventory levels to ensure parts availability.
  • Organize and maintain a clean, efficient and well-labeled parts department.
  • Verify receipts against purchase orders and resolve discrepancies.
  • Investigate supplier issues, backorders and alternative sourcing options.
  • Process warranty claims, core returns and parts returns within timelines.
  • Utilize manuals, digital tools and product documentation to identify replacement parts.
  • Analyze inventory trends, supplier performance and return data to recommend improvements.
  • Serve as a resource for inventory questions and shop communication.
  • Respond professionally to maintenance-related inquiries.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Provide training, coaching or mentoring related to parts and inventory processes as needed.
