Job summary

Central Michigan University is seeking an associate director of business and community outreach (BCO) to lead CMU Online initiatives from Troy, MI. The role focuses on maintaining existing partnerships and sourcing new ones to drive educational advancement and workforce development in Southeast Michigan.

The position reports to CMU Online's Academic Affairs division, with regular travel within the region and occasional travel beyond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Two years of relevant experience in business development, sales, relationship building, education, HR/training or related field.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including ability to present.
• Demonstrated ability to engage diverse clientele across industries.
• Polished business acumen and professional demeanor.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize.
• Ability to travel locally/regionally as needed.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders to form partnerships for adult learning opportunities.
• Inform stakeholders of partnership status, expansion opportunities and outcomes.
• Develop strategic partnerships aligned with CMU Online's mission and goals.
• Collaborate across teams to implement partner agreements and programs.
• Promote educational pathways and workforce development for government, business and community organizations.
• Prepare regional outreach plans tailored to local education/workforce needs.
• Coordinate activities to align outreach with CMU Online's strategic objectives.
• Document engagement efforts and partnership status in internal systems.
• Travel to meet clients outside the designated region as needed.
