Job summary

Theuniversityunion is seeking a Youth Counselor to lead and build relationships with youth participants in the program under the Youth Site Director's supervision. You will develop activities aligned with YMCA values and mission, creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment.

Responsibilities include mentoring, modeling responsible behavior, collaborating with staff and community partners, and attending trainings to support the program.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Experience with children or teens preferred but not required.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups from all backgrounds.
• Multilingual abilities are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and builds relationships with a group of elementary and/or middle school students.
• Implements activities that are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate.
• Creates a fun, safe, friendly and challenging atmosphere.
• Mentors and models responsible behavior with children in the program.
• Fosters relationship-building skills with campers, parents, school staff and YMCA staff.
• Adheres to YMCA policies, including safety, discipline, and emergency procedures.
• Ensures space and equipment are well-maintained and left clean daily.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Develops collaborative relationships with community organizations and communicates clearly.
