Job summary

The YMCA of Upper Palmetto is seeking a Part Time After-school Counselor to provide program leadership for an afterschool student group under supervision. The role emphasizes guiding activities, maintaining safety, and aligning with the YMCA mission to build a healthy spirit, mind and body.

Responsibilities include leading a specific group, maintaining discipline, planning activities, keeping attendance and reports, following emergency procedures, and supporting branch events as needed.

Qualifications

• Exposure to small structured group work.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be at least a junior in high school.
• No experience required.
• Have a positive attitude and desire to achieve the mission of the Upper Palmetto YMCA
• Carrying, sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking, running, crouching, lifting (25lbs.), and walking

Responsibilities

• Leadership for specific after school group.
• Maintain discipline within after school group.
• Follow emergency procedures in case of accidents.
• Remain with after school group at all times.
• Plan and implement open period activities.
• Maintain reports and attendance records.
• Follow established after school procedures and guidelines.
• Follow the YMCA mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
