Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley in Phoenix is seeking an Arts Specialist to oversee safety and supervision of Club members while delivering high-yield art activities under the direction of the Program Director.

You will develop and facilitate art programs, coordinate exhibitions, supervise volunteers, and ensure a positive, inclusive Club experience. If 21 or older, transporting members may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Passion for working with youth.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to Club’s changing needs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and cooperative working skills.
• Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite and be comfortable adapting to new technology.
• If 21 or older, maintains a valid driver’s license and meets eligibility requirements to drive Club vehicles.
• Safety oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develops, organizes, and facilitates programs and activities utilizing a formal curriculum.
• Directly runs programming and high-yield activities in assigned area.
• Foster creativity and self-expression among youth by encouraging them to explore diverse artistic mediums including but not limited to fine arts, digital arts, performing arts, applied arts.
• Plan and coordinate art exhibitions and displays to celebrate youth’s achievement and showcase work.
• Administers outcome measurement tools.
• Delivers programs with an enthusiastic, high-energy, positive attitude
• Plan and lead engaging art activities for youth in grades K-6,
• Encouraging creativity, self-expression, and skill development.
• Using a variety of mediums - paint, crayons, clay, drawing
• Ensures program areas remain safe, clean, and organized.
• Adheres to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley’s policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates sound judgement and decision-making.
• Maintains Club equipment and property to ensure they stay in good working order.
• Uses positive guidance and discipline techniques to redirect member behavior issues.
• Utilizes active supervision techniques when working with Club members.
• Supports and mirrors the culture, mission, values, and core beliefs of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley.
• Promotes an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.
• May include assisting with food program.
• Other duties as assigned.
