Job summary

The New School HEOP/ULC Tutor position supports the collaboration between The University Learning Center and HEOP to provide tailored tutoring, skill-building workshops, and resources. Tutors help students become stronger, independent learners and succeed academically in a diverse environment.

As a part-time role in-person, the program offers $29.20/hr through Oct 31 with potential pay redetermination by the next collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a relevant program at The New School.
• At least one year of tutoring or teaching writing/English in an academic setting.
• GPA 3.0 or higher.
• Excellent communication, reliability and punctuality.
• Commit to 6+ tutoring hours per week.
• ADHD experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary tutor for HEOP, assisting with writing projects and academic skills.
• Lead one-on-one tutoring and skill-building sessions and workshops.
• Develop and lead study halls and informational handouts.
• Provide feedback on writing, citing sources and avoiding plagiarism.
• Complete administrative tasks with session summaries and attendance notes.
