Job summary

Lindenwood University is seeking a Writing Specialist to support students and instructors through classroom writing activities, consultations, and virtual support at the Writing Center.

The role involves collaborating with instructors on writing assignments, developing training materials for staff, and providing in-person and online support. A bachelor’s degree is required, with teaching or tutoring experience; a Master’s in English or related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• Prior tutoring or teaching experience required or strongly preferred
• Familiarity with APA/MLA/CMOS/AMA styles and writing conventions

Responsibilities

• Provides feedback on student writing in person, via video chat, or email
• Provides intensive in-class writing support
• Develops training materials and resources for writing instructors; trains and mentors staff
• Supports diverse learners with effective student development strategies
• Consults with faculty to identify opportunities for curricular enhancement
• Conducts writing conferences with students
• Keeps current on best practices in writing center pedagogy
• Embeds within the LMS to support students and instructors
