Job summary

CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit, seeks a part-time Wellness Mentor on the grounds of Ancora Psychiatric Hospital. You will deliver individual and group peer support, socialization and recreational activities at the wellness center, under supervision of the Community Liaison, and work with staff to run day-to-day wellness center operations.

Responsibilities include coordinating with hospital staff, supporting community relations, and engaging with people with lived experience in recovery.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree with 1 year experience in mental health OR High School Diploma with 2+ years in mental health field.
• Experience with inpatient hospitalization.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of wellness, the mental health system and community resources.
• Ability to make and maintain contacts and positive relationships with individuals who receive or have received mental health and/or substance abuse services.
• Valid NJ Driver’s License.
• Lived Experience: CSPNJ prioritizes hiring people who use their own life experience dealing with mental health/substance use issues to inspire and support others.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individual and group peer support, socialization and recreational activities at the wellness center.
• Work under the supervision of the Community Liaison.
• Run day-to-day operations of the wellness center.
• Coordinate with hospital staff as needed.
