Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking a Part-Time Unit Technician to support patient care and unit operations. The role combines phlebotomy, clerical tasks, and frontline coordination for doctors, nurses, patients and families within the unit.

Responsibilities include performing phlebotomy and basic nursing tasks under supervision, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring efficient unit workflow. Emphasis on patient-centered care and teamwork within a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Must have completed or hold one of the following: nurse aide course or medical assistant course or patient care technician course or Parkland's job specific training program.
• Must have current Heartsaver CPR within 90 days of hire or placement.
• Must demonstrate competence in patient care and clerical duties.
• Must communicate effectively with clinicians, patients and families.
• Must have computer skills for data entry, reporting, scanning, etc.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy tasks and lab draws for the unit as needed.
• Coordinate patient care and clerical needs as the primary unit contact.
• Provide basic hygiene care, injections, vital signs under RN direction.
• Admit, transfer and discharge patients; maintain and update records.
• Maintain infection prevention and environment of care guidelines.
