Job summary

Parkland Health seeks a Unit Technician for the Observation Unit on the Night Shift to coordinate patient care and unit operations. You will handle phlebotomy, clerical tasks, and act as the primary information resource for staff, patients and families.

The role supports RNs and helps prepare patient charts and reports. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, routine patient care activities, data entry, and communication with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Must have completed or be enrolled in an approved nurse aide or nursing program.
• Current CNA registry or equivalent credential required or in process.
• Phlebotomy and basic lab coordination experience is expected.
• CPR certification within 90 days of hire from AHA or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care and clerical needs on the unit.
• Perform phlebotomy tasks and collect lab specimens as needed.
• Serve as primary information resource for staff, patients and families.
• Assist with basic nursing tasks under RN supervision and document care.
• Prepare and process patient files and charts; maintain confidentiality.
