Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking a Unit Technician/Health Unit Coordinator to support Oak West Health Ctr. The role combines patient care tasks with clerical coordination on the unit, under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, vital signs, hygiene care, and ensuring smooth information flow for staff and families. The candidate will maintain accurate records, assist with admissions/discharges, and uphold infection prevention and patient-centered care standards while leveraging basic

Qualifications

• Must have completed or hold one of the listed education options.
• One year acute care hospital experience required.
• Parkland's job specific training may count as experience.
• Must have current Heartsaver CPR within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to perform patient care and clerical duties.
• Effective communication with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Flexible work habits and prioritization skills.
• Demonstrates patient-centered care and confidentiality.
• Computer skills for data entry, reports, printing, scanning, faxing, etc.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy tasks and lab draws as needed for the unit.
• Coordinate patient care and clerical needs as the primary unit contact.
• Provide basic hygiene care, injections, venipunctures, and routine treatments under RN supervision.
• Transports meals and supports patient safety and comfort.
• Maintain patient records and generate unit reports for decision makers.
• Admit, transfer, and discharge patients and manage valuables.
• Maintain logs, vital signs, and infection control in line with guidelines.
• Support translation services and ensure compliance with policies.
