Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a part-time Day Position Unit Secretary to join our patient care team. You will perform a blend of direct patient care and essential clerical duties under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.

You will help maintain a clean, organized environment and assist physicians, patients, families and staff as needed. Responsibilities include scheduling tests, maintaining patient records, checking patients in and out, and supporting the unit with equipment and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR/BLS certification may be required.
• Basic life support and/or PCA education program as applicable.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with infection control principles.
• Basic computer skills and clerical literacy.

Responsibilities

• Provides a blend of direct patient care and unit clerical duties under supervision of a Clinical Nurse.
• Assists with information, directions and help for physicians, patients, families and vendors.
• Schedules tests and procedures, maintains patient records and signs patients in/out.
• May order, receive and deliver equipment and supplies for the unit.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention where required.
