Job summary

Indiana University Health in Lafayette, Indiana, seeks a Full-time Unit Secretary/PCA on the night shift to provide direct patient care and clerical support in a fast-paced hospital unit.

You will assist physicians, keep patient records, help schedule tests, and ensure a clean environment. CPR may be required; basic computer skills and medical terminology knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CPR certification may be required to complete unit training.
• Basic Life Support certification required per unit policy.
• Experience in acute patient care or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and infection control basics.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Performs unit clerical duties and maintains patient records.
• Signs patients in and out of the unit and may schedule tests for the patient.
• May be responsible for ordering, receiving and delivering equipment and supplies for the patient care team.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention when required.
