Job summary

Alvin Community College seeks adjunct instructors to support the Continuing Education Workforce Development department with courses in technical translation and SOP development. The role is a part-time pool position, limited to 19 hours per week, for assignments throughout the academic year.

Qualifications

• Relevant professional experience in technical writing, translation, SOP development, document control, process documentation, or industrial/professional communications.
• Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing, editing, terminology management, document formatting, translation principles, and SOP development.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver instruction in technical translation, technical writing, and SOP development.
• Teach students to create clear, accurate, consistent, and user-focused technical documents for industrial and professional environments.
• Instruct students in translating technical content while preserving meaning, terminology, context, accuracy, and intended use.
• Teach principles of technical language, terminology management, document structure, readability, and audience analysis.
• Provide instruction on developing SOPs, including purpose, scope, responsibilities, required materials, procedures, safety information, documentation, and revision history.
• Teach students to analyze existing processes and convert operational knowledge into clear, standardized written procedures.
• Instruct students in creating work instructions, process guides, checklists, forms, technical manuals, and other controlled documents.
• Other duties as assigned.
