Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Metals Science (Metallurgy, Composite Science, etc.), or Welding Technology and 3 years non-teaching work experience in the field.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and intermediate computer skills.
• Familiar with interactive teaching methods and instruction via the Internet.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and supervise a diverse population of students in the classroom at various times and locations.
• Promote student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and oral.
• Prepare and utilize a course syllabus and assessments per institution guidelines.
• Maintain current knowledge of teaching methodologies and utilize varied instructional delivery methods and resources.
• Assist in recruitment and retention of students.
• Advise students in academic matters or refer to appropriate resources.
• Assess students' performance and keep them informed of progress.
• Engage students face-to-face and through electronic communications.
• Utilize technology to facilitate learning, access data, maintain records, generate reports.
• Assist in development, distribution and collection of assessments.
• Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, administration, and community.
• Submit timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions.
• Provide curriculum/instruction recommendations to Deans/Chairs and committees.
• Commit to lifelong learning through professional development.
• Adhere to Alvin College policies and procedures.
• Attend institutional meetings and participate in other duties as assigned.
